Defenses Braziers/torchpost

As I understand the difference between brazier and torch post is only that a torch post is easier to destroy? Also, torch posts do not seem to require fuel?. Then there's conflicting statements concerning brazier damage nerf. I was understanding that you basically get shot for the same amount of damage regardless of numbers, but some have said you can nerf your braziers by overlapping where they're doing half the damage. It would make sense if 2 braziers shoot you and they do half the damage but the same damage as one, but not so much as entering the range of just one of the two for half the damage.

Now as far the rules of overlapping, does that overlap apply to area of braziers overlapping to get the nerf or is it when an area overlaps another brazier. So if the area's for example of two braziers overlap but they far enough where neither one is actually in the area of the the other, are they both nerf now? Or is the system both target base and combination of overlapping, so in the case of the 2 braziers they hit for max damage by themselves but if you enter being both in range they are now nerfed.

Does anyone know exactly how the new system is working in regards to the overlap and nerf? Do you need to try and make it so that you never overlap the range area of braziers? Will you always have weak spots in your town no matter what now if you do avoid overlapping?

You understood it wrong. Torch does less damage also it has a shorter range and uses tinder as fuel. You can "nerf" both braziers and torches to do less damage if you overlap them but by placing them carefully you can cover every part of your base with max damage.

The area of one brazier needs to overlap another brazier (not its area) to count count it for the damage reduction but if only there area of influence overlaps both do full damage. So if you enter the area of two braziers that doesnt overlap you will suffer double damage. But if you enter the area of one brazier that overlaps two other braziers it will deal only one third of the damage.

Smart raider will never allow himself to suffer fire from two braziers that arent overlapping, basically you can make your braziers weaker than by nerfing but not stronger.
