Is The Time Sink Crazy Or Am I Doing It Wrong?

Postby Hare » Sat Mar 29, 2014 7:29 am

I played back in 2012 and even then gluttony changed significantly. Coming back yesterday to play I crazy time blocks preventing me from advancing. I get that this is so a clan couldn't PL a brand new player to 250 stats but with 14/9/9/9 I am blocked on stats as well as proficiencies/inspirations. If I use the equivalent of Autumn Delight to lvl my humours it will take 20 hours of game time clicking every 20 minutes without fail to get to 20 humours in all 4 stats. Autumn Delight has a 17 min timer so I rounded it up to 20 min. If I used Witches Hats the timer is 39 min over twice as long extending my time to get to 20 in all stats to 40 hours of clicking in game. Something seems out of whack to me.
The Inspiration timer is the other time block. You can't regen enough inspiration timer to keep studying. Obviously a game design but is it designed to block use of a low lvl item like a chestnut for a starter player? I get that the dame design has changed but I can't even use a Singing Old Log because it takes 12k inspiration stored up.
I can't study while I wait for the food timer and I can't do much else cause I haven't developed abilities by day 2 to do much.
So does everyone sit in Boston and click a food I tem every 17-39 min? Someone take pity on me and help me figure out where I am failing to understand. I would really like to play this game just gotta figure out how to do so.

I have found just walking around, which I used to do, exploring while I study/eat etc isn't possible cause I have so much food ready to eat and so many inspirationals ready to study there is no place to put anything and my inventory is full so foraging around isn't possible lol. I have made 4 boxes and am using stumps and logs near my homestead but everything is full.

What does everyone do while waiting for food and study timers now? Please help not being a jerk trying to figure it out.

Check out some other games while you are waiting on your timers. Pixel pirates is fun. Hello kitty online is pretty great too.

1. Make alts, and have each of them learn different set of skills. This will allow you to go around inspiration limit in the beginning. For example have one character concentrate on farming skills. Other on foraging / hunting / leatherworking. Other on mining / blacksmithing.

2. Use inspirationals effciently - inspiration cost is the sum of all proficiency values given by particular inspirational. So if you are aiming to increase particular proficiency try to use inspirationals which will give you as much of this particular proficiency at as low cost as possible

3. One thing about gluttony that hasn't been mentioned in patch notes is the fact that each bile gained during one gluttony session will decrease full&fed up debuff strength of each following food gobbled in this session, down to 50%. So if you can get yourself some varied foods it's more efficient to eat them in one session.

Like Procne said, get more than one humor point in one gluttony session. It's more time efficient that way. In case you don't really understand Gluttony from the patch notes, this page has more information. And this table can be sorted to help you find a variety of foods for your humor level.

Otherwise, spend time developing your base. If you haven't found a place to settle yet, explore. If you have, expand and level it, build things. If you need silver, go out hunting crickets and turn them into teams to sell. I spend a good deal of time doing that, myself.

To help with your inspiration, try to even out your humors, starting by bringing your black bile up near to the level of your highest humor. Then, when you gluttony, advance the black bile as your first point in the session.

Thanks for the tips - advancing my homestead is a challenge with low stats and no skills. Also I can't kill a cricket with 9 yb - but you knew that.

I will keep after it I started an alt and found an abandoned house/claim so lots more resources already made/available.

You can kill a cricket with 5yb, with 9 it should be easy.
