I think this is what's really throwing me through a loop:
at 1.0 bile points per minute at 495 to all, it already takes 33 hours to progress to 496 to all.

How does 1.0 point per minute = 33 hours to raise 1 to each humour, which would be a total of 4 points? Shouldn't it be 4 minutes?

I think a more accurate terminology would be 1.0 gluttony point toward raising a humor.

For example, I think Tamasin is saying, to raise a noob character (5/5/5/5) to 6/6/6/6 would require minimum 23 gluttony points (5 for first humor, then 6 for each of the other 3). This means a minimum of 23 minutes gluttony cool down, in a perfect world.

To raise that to 7/7/7/7 would require 31 gluttony points (6 for the first humor, 7 for each of the other 3). You get the idea. This means a minimum of 31 minutes gluttony cool down, in a perfect world.

Extend that all the way to 500 humors (500/500/500/500). I am not going to do the math, but I suspect Tamasin is close enough for me.

yes. this. sorry for the confusion, i thought it would be obvious that this is points toward gaining a bile, not actually raising one.
I imagined many people would have been doing things like dividing the number of points they'd gained by the time it took them to see how well they're doing with the new system etc.

game is made by clueless people, anyone that expects this game to advance beyond its current state or at best that of haven is delusional as it is never going to happen, either find enjoyment with the game in its currennt format or move along and find another one like a full half of the people that started on wipe day have already done (as i predicted)

You comment was enlightening to me. I figured I'd explain it for people like me who hadn't done the math.

I gave up a few weeks ago when I realized that I was on a long slow trip to Chumpsville in the new system, given my inconsistent play style. It would have been nice to have a system that allowed me to catch up after missing several days. Once I realized that I was destined for mediocrity because I prefer to take extended breaks, I decided to step away from the game.

Also, i think another conclusion we can draw is that we're still going to have the 'problem' of 'titans'. Many people are gaining biles at perhaps half the rate others are, and there will be players trying to start the server months after others have. There will eventually once again be characters running around with 300-400+ biles compared to other people who may not even have half that, and no amount of hard work/no lifing etc will catch them up. Under the old system, any player with enough hard work and dedication could make a character comparable in biles to pretty much any other within a reasonable amount of time. Not anymore. I think it's great we'll see people crying who just didn't use the system properly to achieve what others did in the same amount of time, but this really sucks for players who join the server late or who die without having persistently worked on any alts.

I'd rather not see any time delays at all, but the problems with this could be reduced greatly by things like shorter outright debuff times and/or allowing us to increase our bile gain rates even more by purity/intelligent gluttoning.

i am not concerned about titans, they are still able to be killed and this time when they are it will be a year and a half before it is replaced. games problem is that every concievable thing was nerfed or marginialized in an effort to prop up the ****** players to the same level as competent ones.

1> used to have to build dozens of braziers if you wanted a strong base, now you need 1

2> if you wanted to fortify your **** extra you could spend months building tree walls, not anymore.

3> wanted to stock up a large amount of silver you could spend a few days in the darkness going after argos, now they require twice as much **** and sell for half as much making them less valuable than a bear kill.

4> if you wanted to take your merchanting to the next level you could buy a vendor stall, now there are no vendor stalls.

5> if you wanted action you could become a raider, either solo or as a zerger newb. now raiding through brute force is near impossible and completely not worth it. and you can only "raid" (or walk on) 5 claims every 2 weeks

6> if you wanted to buckle down and focus on making high end gear you could spend MONTHS building a nice stump farm, now skull rates are nerfed if stumps are to close together.

7> you used to want to crank out lots of t3 fields as tier 3 foods used to be at least twice as good on average as tier 1 foods, now there is at most about a 15% difference so who gives a *****.

8> wanted to be a slotter you could pool ungodly amounts of resources and food into a single character raising proficiencies to the several hundred each required to slot efficiently, now you get to spend a year logged off regenerating "inspiration" for half of that.

9> walls used to require a decent bit of effort, now you can build multiple walls on a large town claim solo in an afternoon.

i could go on an on for a dozen or more examples, point is they ***** up ALL of the game not just the pvp or raiding aspect by trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator of the playerbase, the underachieveing losers who will always be **** at the game regardless of the mechanics. whelp at the end of the day all that accomplished is mking those of us that didn't suck have nothing to do in game, all the people that did suck still do and are quitting in droves to the point in a month or two the only people that will be playing is the exact same 150 that were pre wipe.

JUST LIKE I HAVE SAID FOR A YEAR PRIOR TO THE WIPE, ON WIPE DAY and SINCE WIPE DAY.

throw in a map that is 4x larger and growing, horrible map generation, pointless mine wipes, toxic moderators that do not play or know anything about the game, devs that are inconsistent and do not give a ***** along with other assorted "cherries" on top of this mountain of **** known as salem and it is plain to see the game is going nowhere, ever.

if you like the game play it until it dies like me, but anyone sitting around with hope in their eyes needs to wish in one hand and **** in the other. see which one fills up first.

He makes a lot of valid points. This game in its current state is just down right awful.

There's a lot that Jorb and Loftar don't know about there own game. A perfect example is the chat conversation I posted for all to see earlier in this thread. There has been a couple conversations with them similar to that one.

Like in one of chiefs thread jorb was surprised as all ***** someone had rights of the english on the 1st/2nd day. They don't play their game as much as the players and don't take much if any feedback from them.

Its really not surprising, they don't really have a testing team that they call upon. It's just them. There is only so much you can know about the game depending on time spent playing it. They are spending a majority of their time developing while we are messing with the aftermath. There is no way that they can keep up with that.
