I agree there are a lot of "problems" with the pvp in salem right now. Raiding a town is such a high investment that I'm not sure it will ever happen. Its even worse than ramming a brickwall in haven, because the chance of losing your character is so high. And pvp out in the wilds depends far more on stats than it did in haven as well, because blood is linear and damage is relatively low (which means a character with 4x the investment - 2x the humours - is 2*sqrt(2) as strong by my reckoning - even without movement combat in w7 haven it wasn't so close to linear improvement). Plus the combat system is dull (in my opinion, but i realise i'm biased) compared to the glorious weirdness that was haven combat, especially in w7 (until they/you just run, ofc ¦] ) All of this means that to do pvp you need a "titan" character to be competitive, but losing that character is really a big deal so pvp against anyone who poses a challenge is strongly discouraged.

Maybe thats actually what the devs want though, like good little marxists they want economy to be the only thing that is important ¦] , and i dont think that it necessarily stops political drama from happening. However I'm fast approaching the point at which I get bored of grinding, and i don't see any way I can engage in any sort of fun combat since my stats are no doubt pretty low compared to those in larger groups or those who play less casually. Fighting alts with equal humours isn't so fun cause the risk is very asymmetric.

Having said that I have found the game very fun this time round - just ran out of peaceful things to do really.

Well today we are raiding their camp (on that stream I was on defenders side), so I am going to kill few of them, again

Not really, it's more of a crafting mmorpg. People are just used to pvp games and only get satisfied when there is blood and drama so they can get some feel of accomplishment when causing misfortune to others, since that seems to be the only standard nowadays. Sick world. You guys wonder why raiding is next to impossible in salem right now, in a brazier defended city/pclaim? This game is meant to be more farmville\adventure than pvpraiding. That's why. The devs are obviously taking a timeout to think about how to discourage blackplay, or make it more balanced because people are not really playing their game as intended. Too much grief, too much paranoid behaviour that is holding this game to truly bloom out and be more awesome.

salemthegame.com wrote:Salem is a fully open sandbox MMO with deep crafting elements. The game features permadeath as one of its main gimmicks, along with an in-depth character development system without
classes and set roles, where the player can chose which kind of game to play. Taking place in the time of the first Pilgrims, Salem lets you live as an explorer in the new world; building your settlement,
learning new skills and maybe fight with your neighbours.
