Salem game bashing

The changes have made the game so boring and aggravating to actually kill it dead, I predict game death for Salem. Don't like to hear that? Well, this is a sandbox game and sandboxes are about not having limits, that's what their appeal is. Your suppose to have freedom to develop, not impose such artificial limitations and penalties to the point of making it a major waste of time for little rewards if any. Gluttony would be good without the cooldown, it is better now than how it was done before and takes more planning. The old insp study system worked just fine, only the legacy items made it easier than what it would have been without them in the first place. I am pointing out the obvious game-play flaws that hurts the game overall. Most people will hate what i mentioned above and quit, even many of those who came back to check out all the cool new items and features.

Salem game bashing rambling

The game does NOT function, in the sense of always offering you something to do that won't be a utter waste of time. I see many log in, do glut and go afk for hours then periodically after several hours come back and do it again. That's pretty hard core and doesn't classify as playing the game, but I understand with dozens of boxes overflowing with insp and food we can't use. What are we going to do? Plant more farms to make more food we can't use either? Grow gardening supplies for insp and more food we can't use? I know, how about selling off stuff. No wait, very little has value except iron bars since there are many who can't make em, most players will quit before they can. This is why the update sucks hard core, but at least there's a few who are delusional enough to think this is actually all good ROFL.

I had hoped the update would bring back balance and it did, but it also brought massive redundancy destroying the value of everything but the rare and super rare insp, if your smart you don't sell them no matter how much someone offers you. It is hard to quit a game after playing it for a year, even if it did turn into pure cocka, but I am almost there getting use to not playing.

I agree with that you should have as much freedom as possible. Ironically, because the Gluttony and Learning system have "cooldowns" you lose freedom when it comes to Gluttony and Learning, but increase freedom when it comes to everything else. Reason is: if Gluttony and Learning did not have cooldowns, people would spend far more of their time just eating and learning, which would leave them with far less time to do other things.

I disagree, it offers so much I cannot find the time.

So let me point out things you can do which won't be utter waste of time:
1. Getting better and better prospecting rods for better mines.
2. Explore and map your surrounding areas. (Specially exploring with canoe while simultaneously foraging is very efficient)
3. Build up your base! Gardening, farming, tree planting, ore smelting, turkey coop, timber piles, walls and braziers all take time and effort to setup properly.
4. Find good locations for your fish trap.
5. Find water, granite and lime with good alchemy. Specially the water is something that can be done by everyone since water alchemy is not capped by any profficiency.

If you are into the information business, then:
6. Plant spies in towns.

I know, how about selling off stuff. No wait, very little has value except iron bars since there are many who can't make em, most players will quit before they can.

You don't need that much silver early on and at max you need like 6000 silver and that's only if you are soloing and want a gigantic personal claim + a village claim.

Selling tumbleweeds, old logs and cobwebs tohttp://forum.salemthegame.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=9124or selling Oakworth, Devil Wort and Lavender blewit to http://forum.salemthegame.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=8656 is enough to get your personal claim a decent size to get you started.

what about if you already have all of those things done other than purity grinding? ( which i will just wait for someone else to do before killing him and thus getting access to purity components )

I guess that leaves all your time for raiding. Should be no complaints from you.
