Hi,
It was a slow day at work yesterday, so I made a simple console app that will find the combination of inspirationals you need to increase a specified proficiency to a specific level with the lowest inspiration cost. It's pretty straightforward, place both the exe and the xml-file (which is just a slightly edited copy of the table-body of the inspirational-page on the wiki. Thanks go out to http://salemwiki.info/ for the data) in the same folder and run the exe-file.
Then you get to enter the:

1. proficiency type

2. the proficiency level

3. the maximum number of inspirationals to use. Its pretty much does an exhaustive search, so increasing this to more than 5-6 will in most cases take forever.

4. maximum average purity for the inspirationals

5. Maximum quality of the inspirationals to use. examples: Rock Maracas is low-quality, Peyote Cactus is medium and Medusa Head Jellyfish is high. I've manually added this to the data-file based on how hard the inspirationals are to get for me, so it might not be quite right for you. If you want to change it, its the number (1=easy,2=med or 3=hard) in the <td>-element after the one with the name in it.

once the program has searched through all available permutations it will report on the 10 best, showing what inspirationals to use, the total inspiration cost and the required average purity of the items.

And yes, its an exe-file. So if I were you I would run a virus-scanner on it before i'd use it.
