When the worm is ready to eat, it does a check for food and eats the first qualifying thing it finds, no matter when that food was put in place. I think there's some random element involved in when they do eat though so you wouldn't want to try to time it to the minute.

+0.6 ~ +1.3 to an element, per food consumption per 12h is not bad i guess.(depends on the element)

Using 40 element foods, it increased about +1.3 per consumption.

My lead worm, has eaten x2 40 lead element food and his lead is now 27.63 So at this rate he should match the food in 5 days (unless it starts to go slower).

Yes it does. Worm moves ten percent in direction of food.
