door locks on buildings?

Postby MorgRumPlot » Sun Mar 02, 2014 9:31 pm

the Lock mechanism does not work on pilgrims hovel? Am i missing something?

Does the lock only work on gates? and chests?

Why wouldn't house/building doors be lockable?

thanks for any info provided.
I would imagine if Buildings could be locked it might be helpful for players living together or town forming, like in real life, providing slightly more security. Would foster players to include them into their communities. yes? no? thoughts?

They can't be locked because lockpicking hasn't been implemented yet.

An alternative would be to allow one to bash in a locked door - without destroying the entire building.

I'm not really in favor of lock picking.

if you really want something like that, you can build some fences in front of your house and lock the gate.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

well that is something.

Crafted doors. could be implemented with 2 door type for starter basics. a cheap door for the pilgrims hovel at least, for newer settlers. Then an advanced reinforced wooden door. Then perhaps a metal door as the highest tier door.

I should be positing ideas like this in suggestions, but what about the possibility of indian dwellings, like traditional tee-pees used by nomadic indian tribes. You know the leather ones with the long poles. This suggests another style of indian house, the wigwam, which is a more permanent structure. Imagining the tee-pee could be "packed up" and relocated on a cart, or similar type "4 wheeled 2 axled wagon".

-the potential in this game is amazing.

That is somewhat pointless, if they already broke through your walls what stops them from breaking into the buildings?
If you are talking about early game protection then just wall your house :P

I dont think they would implement it. The reason is: entering/leaving a building is technically a map change. Now consider: how should things work for entering/leaving a house without a door?

The default "door" could either be saloon doors like the mansion in HnH, or a black rectangle from outside and a white one from inside, why is that such a hard concept.
