Some areas seem to catch much more fish than others.

It's a complicated system to work out.

Did you put bait inside?

Worms give shin spinners, wood choppings give trunk nosed lake perch and sugar caps give tiger trout.
Meat shreds havent given anything so far, neither berries.

Location is a small lake.

Is it in deep water?

Anyone else nearby that could be taking it?

Just a guess; You may have a limited number of fish in that spot and you're putting in the wrong kind of bait.

I've caught Gold Pickerel, Red Herring, Lake Perch, Ghostfish and Shin Spinner with worms.

I've caught Red Herring and Shin Spinner with woodchips, but they seem to catch less.

You need to make sure your trap is SUBMERGED mostly under water. If your trap is just sitting ON TOP of the water, you will be waiting a very long time.

Guess the location matters a lot since i can only get shin spinners with worms.

It seems that way so far. Once the mechanics are better understood areas which are currently low yield might become better for traps when the right types of bait are understood.

You can add Raging Bullhead to the worm list btw.

Also it's worth mentioning that the net has to in the water proper, it starts to bob a bit and its submerged, if its not it'll just 'sit' on the top, now if I just catch the git who emptied mine and left nowt I'll be happy
