Well, two things, actually:

1. Torch doesn't burn out when offline

2. Should it really stay lit when logging out?

Maybe this is intentional, maybe it's an oversight. We've not had feedback on it so I just expect to be "fixed" one day.

As far as on topic: think I answered in my first post and then staxjax backed it up. You'll need to provide evidence other than a gut feeling, which means some sample runs of statistical significance. It's a lot of work for any one player to go through, though. Nobody will blame you if you don't want to do it. (I certainly don't want to!! Maybe if I had GM tools at my disposal and could spawn tinder drills and foods....)

As to #2, I think it should stay lit (and continue to burn) after log out. After all, it's still equipped and crashing would be quite annoying when running around with a torch for one reason or another. But if that gets changed I wouldn't complain. It should imo definitely continue to use fuel if it stays lit though.

I haven't noticed a change one way or the other as my humours have increased, but I haven't paid a ton of attention (lighting a torch does seem to be successful more often than lighting a campfire - but I don't have any data to support that, and the appearance of it being more effective may just be due to the fact that for one I have to run back to try and the other I don't). I might start recording my attempts to light stuff with a tinder drills for research purposes (I always forget to light my torch on logout and don't want to use metal on flint/steel).

Who needs a tinder drill? (As far as we know, this is an exploit and will likely get fixed at some point in the future.)

Ive already been doing the torch thing, and its not an exploit, other than logging out.. Its within game mechanics and intended... Common sense told me to do this lol...

He's referring to the torch not losing any of it's fuel while offline - that sounds unintended imo.

Nods.. Yes comprehended.. Hence other than logging out... I agree...

When You log out your toon is technically kinda sleeping, I dont know too many people who sleep with lit torches lmao.... This why I think its kinda of an exploit.. But I have logged out at times without even thinking about it - just had to go... They should turn off when logged out

Yea I havent done any test to support it either..Will do so... It just seems that way over the weeks.. When comparing the odds to success/failure ratio with a new toon, and then weeks later the success/failure odds seem to have increased or changed.. It leads my mind to think it was either a change in the code or advancing your toon ie humors to affect this... I know for a fact with a new toon I was able to light camp fires with tinder and drill within 4 attempts... Ive read or seen in a video weeks ago its based on humor percentage.. I mean if theres a penalty for having a toon progress one can either use flint and steel or use a new toon to light all camp fires.. Just seems redundant to have to approach game play mechanics in this method.. Ive been using the torch method as a current work around and lighting all fires in one batch that are needed then using the camp fire to relight the torch automatically if needed...

Im claiming a possible unbalance due to new toons vs advanced toons, and if it was this case which more data is needed if humors do affect the success/failure ratio... Doesnt make any sense why a new toon would have higher better odds at lighting a camp fire within 4 attempts, where a more advanced toon takes up to 8 attempts... Common sense would go to show it should get easier with an advanced toon if anything or odds should remain the same...

If the mechanics were intended this way.. Then let it be so... Im making an effort to point out something Ive noticed hence beta testing..
