Cannot build Mine Entrance

Hello.

I prospected Iron vein. Flattened that area. Trying to build a mine entrance and it says me "You cannot build that here". I did try on another iron vein. Same result. What I'm doing wrong ?

My skills just prospecting without blacksmithing. And no building materials in my inventory.
Also that area not claimed by anyone. And no stomps, trees, etc on an iron vein.
Woo-Woo-Wand in my hands on moment of try to build.

Is the whole footprint dirt? You can't build on some biomes.

Are you in prospect mode when trying to place the entrance? IIRC you need to be.

I'm in Coniferous forest.
I didn't understood about footprint dirt... If u mean line of dirt like a road - no. No dirt roads on that area.
If u mean print of Iron Vein on a ground - yes. Print of iron vein on ground is visible.
Yes, i'm in prospecting mode.
In past I builded mine entrances on old server few times.

IIRC - what is it ? IRC channel ?

PS Did try on classic and Ender clients.

You said you flattened the land, correct?

When Potjeh says "Is the whole footprint dirt? You can't build on some biomes." he means that you need to dig the whole area of the mine entrance so that it is ALL DIRT. You can do this by digging and then dropping the dirt right where you did the digging. In other words, you need to make sure that there is only level DIRT in the area of the mine entrance you want to build.

while i flatten the land around Iron vein i did it not only on iron vein. On adjacent area too. So here is only dirt (5x5 meters). And it flattened.

if the area is flat,you can pave it and it should let you build it

Problem Resolved:
Just loggin in and rechecked: Is here all of dirt or some others too? On one adjacent side of iron vein it was coniferous. I transformd it to dirt by digging and now all work. Finally I can build. Ty for help.
