Tinder Drill Technicality

Postby zeph2 » Sat Sep 22, 2012 11:52 am

Ive noticed over the weeks that tinder drills are failing breaking more than normal and in higher count rates.. This increase seems to have taken place as my humors raise, and seems to be a base % chance on humor levels or something else in the code has changed with previous updates... I can understand 1-4 fails, but Ive been receiving up to 8 or 9 fails in a row often... The technicality on this in my mind is that tinder drill high breakage failure rate is excessive, redundant, and I'm not sure if this was intended..

I'm pretty sure it is intended. WTS flint and steel.

Hax:

Light a torch before you log out and put it in your hand. It'll be lit when you log back in again. Always keep a fire lit while you're online. I keep a fireplace just for this. Who needs a tinder drill? (As far as we know, this is an exploit and will likely get fixed at some point in the future.)

Oh, as far as the "bug", I'm not noticing any difference, but you could be right. I seriously doubt it has changed and you're just hitting an unlucky streak, but the only way to prove this one way or the other is to keep some records.

In my mind this issue wasn't really a bug, but more of a technicality of balance... Sometimes things are overlooked while coding, and wrong variables are entered on the fly accidentally... I know cuz Ive even done this before...

Ive already been doing the torch thing, and its not an exploit, other than logging out.. Its within game mechanics and intended... Common sense told me to do this lol...
For everyone with negative silly immature feedback. I didnt put this here to complain or whine, and or ask for help otherwise I would have reported in the help section.. Reporting something I noticed that could use a second look at for balance issues for the developers eyes... Lets stay on topic please

I dont think it is a balancing issue. The dev's did introduce a magnificent item called 'flint and steel' which was promptly available to buy from the Company stalls in boston. Great way to make a little silver if people get frustrated enough with the tinderdrills, because any brand new player won't have metal production to make their own for weeks.

He's referring to the torch not losing any of it's fuel while offline - that sounds unintended imo.
