Conservation and Restoration

Postby DeepSixed » Tue Feb 04, 2014 10:27 pm

I'd like to see Salem implement the skill to restore the map to it's original biome status faster. Currently... regardless of the improvement short of pavement it takes 3-6 weeks for digging to revert. That long or more before your new holding doesn't show up on the mini-map like a sore thumb; but if we had a skill we could learn that would speed up this process 500%... it would be huge.

(Certainly take a bite out of folks using 100-1000's of alts- mapping and advanced java coding to gain an advantage of those who aren't programmers.)

On the flip side I'd like to see decay rates tripled for abandoned steads... I like finding useable materials and such that have been discarded; but there resources don't encourage me to create my own... and can be a major distraction.

Finally- Mine shafts degrade and disappear... yet we have the ability to find them again. What a hoot it would be if we could 'rediscover' materials from previous owners...and/or random loot building new mine shafts over mines that disappeared from decay from previous owners... etc.. A lot like finding stuff in stumps... but 1000x better :)

Wtf are you talking about?

Jorb has also said they were working on a new dig to make the process better.

"Jorb" has also publicly posted that Salem thrives on forum drama.

I thought this thread was on how to make the game better... or as I see it better...

Forum drama can move up a few to House of Burgess or to the top at Announcements.

Whatever Jorb says... is mostly ***** unless you have a quote from IRC or other. Anything he says here is for drama queens... it's not for realistic consumption.

Again wtf are you talking about? Why put his name in "" like he isn't real?
So I need to ask him in IRC to say something he already said on the forums? I'm just trying to inform you of the idea you had was already in the works.

STARTING YOUR REPLY... oops...with wtf- is not informative... but confrontational... is it any wonder I went on the defensive?

In the future- just say the issue is being addressed.

thanks.

I'm truly sorry for upsetting you. In the future I will try and post more sympathetically to your needs. I understand the grief and great work that is involved with flattening out land. I makes all parties irritable....

In exchange with future post, could you check out your suggestions with the search button?

Thanks

Yeah, right after the alchemy pack in the store :)

You can keep a couple of alts logged in at the specific spot, and it'll speed up regeneration drastically.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

I could appreciate this, it'd be like reverse digging, and you could pick up say biome seeds and transplant them like sapplings anywhere that has been dug out and would have a chance of taking dependent on your stocks and cultivars and the surrounding biome.

This is restoration tho, conservation has nothing to do with your post or with Salem in general.

I suppose it would if those people were playing Salem...?

Everything else no. No to higher decay rates on bases or mines. Having abbonded places, mines, bases, fields, what notare a boon to the new player starting out, a way to test designs and strategies with less upfront costs. In other words it far easier to claim an abondoned base and rebuild some walls then to build up the whole the thing from scratch. This game is grind heavy enough.
