i ussualy leave 6-8 tiles empty around my piles. But in last few times i get lots of moldy boards. But me and my friends pass by them very often. So i thinked maybe its issue? But sometimes whit same traffic intesity there is no moldy boards at all. Also what is distance needed between pile so that mold doesnt spread?

Check it from wiki, I remeber it was 5 tiles min. Best just to pave area where you dry your boards and put a fence around it.

So basically there is a "chance' they become moldy every 5 hours or so since you make them. Then when they do they spread frm there. Basically meaning it is LUCK on when a board is hit with the mold and the placement in distance to other objects just affects "when" they get hit. Sadly I can't think of any way to confirm this.

Is this a confirmation or did he get inside information?

I do not pave under board piles anymore
I space them 7 apart from eachother
5 away from a makeshift
and I get roughly 80% back as dry

The dry board gods have smiled upon me so far.

As for the "becoming moldy in ticks" I noticed that. First half of a board pile will be fine, then I get moldy throughout the second half. Or, if it is moldy to start the rest tends to be moldy

well.
very interesting.
I counted that from 35-40 timber piles i can get max 60-65% dry boards.even if clear area around more 7-9 tiles each.i built a lot of timber piles under pave area but after all of this i undarstood that is just a 50% chance to get dry boards.I can't undarstand how did you got dry boards when you placed 5 tiles from makeshift fence.
I checked all time that if you placed 5-6 tiles from stone or plenked wall your chance make more lower to get dry boards. If be honest i don't like here a system of getting dry boards. It is hard work just for luck. You work work work but just for luck.It is not so good cause half of your hard work will be lost .Maybe i hope for more chance or more dry boards.but sometimes placed 55-60 timber piles and 7 tiles clear around.I got just angry.I think this mechanics is not finished. Farming more easier but it is a main work with your biles ,main production, but we don't have any chance to get food cause need just plant. With timber piles i can tell that this is just work for luck. With timber piles you spent so much time to place and get any dry boards and i'm sure a lot of players became angry when they did not got any result with timber piles.Timber piles is my weak place in Salem.I worked very hard but when you placed perfect with 10 tiles around and got just 40% boards ,i 'm really sorry.I HATE TIMBER PILES MECHANICS.If i have any rights to change wiki i will write that is not so metter how you placed cause it is just a chance. In my ways i saw at some cities and villages that placed Timber piles near stone wall or 2 piles built near. And it was dried.
Madness
I would change everything in places, but to madness, I do not have enough strength
