I was under the impression that mixing two ingredients (a garlic clove and garlic bulb) would cancel the entire garlic multiplier and just use the cabbage multiplier (in the case of a windy pooh)

Because Windy Pooh has high blood and YB values and while cab has YB=.5(blood)+1.5(YB) it means that a white cab windy has base values of:
Code: Select all
39.000  2.750 56.250  0.000
19.500  2.500 45.000  0.000
57.500  0.000 17.500 40.000
32.500  1.500 35.000  0.000

So if you can make avoid Sulphur it makes for a fairly good YB recipe, and if you use it as a starter and it procs Sulphur then its fairly good for blood.
But the YB modifiers for garlic are .7(YB), .8(YB), and 1.5(Phlegm)+0(YB) so its best to use mixed.

Mixed recipes are also important for new players that don't have a lot of tiered products since you can mix the smallest possible amount of a t2 product into a t1 product to avoid the mostly terrible t1 modifiers. This works best with Oatmeal because it only takes a pinch of t2 flour for it to be considered mixed.

Now that is a quality tip. How much wheat do I need to mix into a barrel of oatmeal to get mixed flour? Are all mixed pie recipes better than pure oatmeal pies?

Don't mix wheat in your oatmeal just use Rye or barley. You can't mix it in the barrel but it only takes .01kg per recipe to make it mixed.
Oatmeal
Code: Select all
0.8   0     0     0
0     0.8   0     0.3
0     0     0.8   0
0     0     0     0.9

Some BB recipes are OK, but I don't think there are any pies that are better with oatmeal than they are with mixed.

Thanks Darknacht and jcwilk for the clarification :)
I had thought about that but never thought it would be better to use a mixed ingredient. Out of town at the moment but when I get back I will take a look at the database and implement all mixed ingredients. I can't immagine there be a lot more combinations, but I can tell there will be enough to noticeably extend the amount of time I need to finish it.

Hey Nico,

I have a fairly functional C# desktop app that I wrote for this. All it's really missing is some polishing and some ingredient data. If you want I can send the code over and walk you through how it works.

Also mine just takes a list of recipe and ingredient matrices and calculates everything else from there. That alone might save you a lot of work, you don't actually need to calculate anything on your own.
