Emptying a claim

Postby saffgee » Mon Dec 02, 2013 1:03 pm

Is there any way to efficiently empty a claim with teleporting in and out ? What I mean is if you happen across a (empty) claim with lots of lootable material, can you use teleporting to empty it quickly back to your base ? I was thinking 'build a lean to', 'set as homestead', etc - but I can't quite get my head around the second leg return to your original base...how do you reset that to your home after that ? By using alts in some way maybe ? I'm thinking there must be a way, but I'm not quite getting it straight in my head at the moment..... :?

Alts. One in home base and one emptying stuff while exchaning it in Boston.

Ok thanks - makes sense. Not 100% secure then as have to exchange via barrel in boston I suppose. Better than walking though.

If you use two accounts with two clients running at once then you can do the exchange while they're both logged on, which is much faster and safer. Takes a beating on the computer to be in boston with two clients though, so not all computers can comfortably do it.

Good idea, I've been 'walking' it to an abandoned claim. 30% purity Iron made it worth it :D (as a new player), now if only I could take the mine back to my base....

If you want that kind of purity, just take enough ore to run a smelter 4 times without adding lime (i.e. 100 pieces or 5 boulders), so you get 2 iron bars equal to the purity of the ore, which can be made into a dowsing rod. With that you can prospect in your claim's vicinity. Your second option would be to make a miner on a second account and transfer the ore through Boston.

Note that the smelter needs to be entirely empty for this to work without reduced purity... By "empty" I mean that there's no remaining bar buildup from the last load, if there's a bit leftover it'll take more than 4 loads to flush it out, I think very worst case you'd have to do 8 loads, which is kind of a drag. It's really hard to ensure this unless you're exceptionally OCD about exactly how you run your smelter, if you've been thinking about adding another smelter to your collection, now would be a good time, and you can run those 4 loads on it fresh to get bars that perfectly match the purity of the ore before using the new smelter for day-to-day smelting.

Or, make the abandoned base your mining base, make an alt and train him up to have 20 phlegm or so and mining, and do your smelting there :P

If you are using ender's client, you can hold alt shift and left click an item in one open container like your inventory and it will move all of that item to another open container, like a barrel. That will reduce the risk in town because it doesn't take long to swap an inventory of ore over.
