Will a lock prevent an open gate from being closed without the key? Is it possible to put a new lock on an opened gate with a lock? I found an abandoned base that almost has a full fence around it but one gate is closed and can't be opened, another is open and can't be closed.

You can put a new lock on an opened locked gate ONLY if you have the master key to the old lock.

Thanks for the replies, I built the fence out and covered up the open gate with a new one and sealed off the closed one
