What's intolerable is Dev's willing participation and collusion with legacy materials. It wasn't 'old mechanics' that needed revisting that split the Devs from Paradox(sp)... they put their foot down that Jorb couldn't reward his buddies with special perks... and he decided otherwise.

Nice try but you are wrong. Moo was also balls deep in friendship magic with MM.

How does your comment even apply? Try answering as if you aren't in bed with those involved

My comment applies due to your erroneous statement. Pdox is just as guilty of friendship magic as jorb. I'm quite positive that i have never been offered a dev handout nor am I with MM.

What's the phrase I'm looking for?...

Oh yes, I remember: "Appearances can be deceiving."

You are talking to the two guys who have ran an indie MMO for 4 years straight with absolutely no income from it other than player donations. And the game has done nothing but grow every year. Now they have an income. I don't know how much it is. They haven't shared that information, but words from TotalyMoo when he was managing the customer support was that the costs were in the black. Let the game continue developing and get better, and I'm sure that you haters and nay-sayers will eventually eat your words.

For some other examples of indie games, take a look around the Internet. There are many games that run on a few hundred to few thousand users and have been running that way for years. Not everyone is about making a World of Warcraft or trying to run a Get Rich Quick scheme.

This type of argument follows the threads of a conspiracy theory, essentially talking claims that are difficult to prove or disprove in any way due to the disinterest of most parties, and jamming an article so full of them that no one thread being broken is enough to untangle the mess.

No, the Devs aren't in anyone's pockets. The point of a sandbox game is for people to do as they please and not for the devs to step in every time a base gets raided. They have indeed given out cosmetic items in the past to players, some of whom were part of the tribe. Legacy materials are nice but they are not the game winning items that people make them out to be. What most of the older players really bank on is the fact that they're familiar with the game systems, know how to operate combat and gluttony, and aren't going to be slowed down by learning the process.

No, the split between Paradox and the devs wasn't over players. It seemed to be a financial decision and that makes sense considering Paradox is a business.

Salem is Salem, new or old.

I hope that addresses some of your concerns.
