Just returned to see how the game has been doing, Ive been away for hmm... almost 2 years now. All the wonderful hype and excitment I once saw on the forums, all the mystery and people begging to be told of how to become a witch and other stuff... Now all I see is spam and the constant "is this game dieing?" "The game is dying" "wipe wipe wipe" "blahblahblah chief"
I was personally very excited to come back to salem, since all my friends quit in beta I quit too, but decided that the game would now be wonderful and interesting, and that I could make it on my own.. Unfortunately I checked the forums first. And the words of others have greatly turned me off, and this is from someone who greatly enjoyed the game in the past.. What do you think new players would do if they read all this crap?
Now, about plymouth.... Jorb, I would like your opinion on that server, and if you have any plans to do anything about its current "condition". A hostile clan taking over an entire server? Really? I coulda sworn this thing was impossible since, you know... Bounty hunters. That was suppose to be the big scary thing that stops hostile people from taking over. Anytime anything bad happened, it was supposed to leave scents and what not allowing other players to follow them and execute the person even if hes offline, from what I hear the entire clan do messed up crap, the population of the server is drastically small compared to the already small populations on the other servers... So what happened? Was it because everyone left the server that mm tribe was able to take over fully? And what things do you plan to implement to fix this problem? Seeing as now their apparently so godlike that, as the chief claims, "I'm pretty sure a 700 humour character would run out of YB before breaking through a Brave's blood." and since they dominate the entire server, I highly doubt anyone would be able to get even that high before dieing, and even then... as the chief claims... just ONE brave. Implying all the braves and probably everyone above their rank, are as strong or stronger.
So Jorb, whats to stop this from happening on the other servers? You can't possibly expect Salem to live if players can completely take over the server and destroy every single new person that joins to where they have no chances at all. Honestly, it seems like you made old players too freaking powerful, like there needs to be a limit to where new players can compete against older players. Like, why are players able to become gods from eating? Why are they able to become gods at all? Buildings and advances in science keep us safer, make us more dangerous, but we should still be vulnerable to any moron with a rock or pointy stick. Unless you have armor! But then your vulnerable to things that can pierce armor, like swords... Or maces, well you get what im saying...
It was a good idea, but obviously it didn't work out right... Now that theres no pressure jorb, take a step back, and look at plymouth as an example of what went wrong and why, and then find a way to prevent things from becoming that way... as it is now, the only way to fix plymouth, is by wiping it completely, AFTER implementing new measures to ensure Plymouth never happens again.
Oh and still reply, because I want to know where you stand on this, as there indeed are rumors that you like and endorse the Chief and all that he is doing.. Which from what we are seeing, is detering fresh blood and showing everyone else that 1 powerful clan of people can completely destroy the game by taking over the server their on. (face it, if the powerful clan in the other servers take over those, there would be no salem, no new people, meaning no new income sources for your game.)
Also would be nice to hear what you plan to do about players becoming godlike because of humours. Personally I think you should take a more realistic route by capping blood at a low enough amount, and using advanced equipment as the primary means for defense instead of "oh look, i can become fat as a garbage truck and somehow magically survive being stabbed a million times"
