Game Opening Issue

Postby Whitenese » Thu Nov 07, 2013 10:43 am

Hey there,

I'm able to download the client from the website fine, I then run the JNLP which opens the downloader.. It downloads without a hitch, it then says starting application, but when it tries to run I get a Java Security Warning saying Unknown Publisher and stuff like that, so I tick the box to allow it to run, then it closes the 'Download/Starting Application box' and nothing happens..

I've reinstalled Java, attempted downloads using three different web browsers, cleared cache's.. Can't seem to make it open.. I just get to the security warning stage and then it closes..

My guess would be that it's just closing the program anyways even though I'm agreeing to let it run..

Hopefully I can get this resolved,

Thanks :)

Have you tried running either the Latikai client or the Ender Client? Both are a much better improvement over the vanilla client and adds to the game several valuable tools to assist you. Personally I prefer the Latikai, it shares many similar functions as the ever popular ender but adds some interesting functions as well.

You may also have a finicky security package on your computer. Make sure it isn't this by disabling it temporarily. Certain software may need to be configured, and certain ones have had to be removed in the past to get Salem to work (ESET was the culprit if I recall correctly). If this is the case, the third party clients probably aren't going to work properly, either, unless you set up the firewall and/or AV programs correctly.

When was the last time you successfully logged in? Which version of Java are you running? The error message seems incomplete, and best guess I can put in at this point is a security program interfering.

The very first link I get when searching Google for the error: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/ex ... access.xml

Another page suggests reinstalling Java to resolve this issue. (I'd also run scandisk and defrag, too, just to make sure there aren't hard drive errors.)
