Looks interesting, probably would need a better comp tho.

When it works it's good fun. A lot of people seem to be having problems with Unity, which is what it runs on, I'm one of them. It's supposed to be migrating to Steam in the next couple of days which hopefully will lead to greater stability.

It's very fast paced, you start totally naked with a rock (it's a literal sausage-fest) and everything wants to kill you. Hunger, radiation, wild animals, zombies and other players. My mic isn't working in-game atm so it's been hard because if you are a mute even "nice" guys will just kill you thinking you're a spy.

It's nice being able to build structures, and raiding would be great fun.

It's good fun in my opinion, but there's a lot of stability issues for which there is no solution

Not yet, only 2 of us have a key and they don't sell keys anymore for now

If anyone happens to have a spare key, I'm willing to buy it or trade it for anything Salem-related !

Been playing for 3 days now. My conclusion : You get to spawn, run all around naked with a rock in your head and wait for the next 12 years old cyber overlord to shoot you in da face with his M4.

Yet another self declared surviving games that offers no consequence to those kids that thinks it is just another shooter.

It is still alpha tho so my judgement is not final for sure and I will still play it for a try... but those games only shows the worst part of humanity :) Like if in a post apocalyptic world, I would spend my days hunting naked dude with an m4 instead of trying to rebuild something sustainable (and defend against any raiding party)...

I watched some of it and it just looks like a combination of minecraft and Battlefield. It sort of looks cool until you realize it's not really perma-death or perma-loss, resources like wood and rock aren't hard to get or hard to find at all, it's almost impossible to break into houses and half of the stuff you need is spawned for free in boxes in factories or spawn zones that can be walled in and defended by guys with M4's so the noobs can't even get there. Also there are so many dupes and bug exploits that the dev's have resorted to perma-banning players by IP to save the game unless they report them. I'd give it another 6 months to a year before it's ready.

Well after a couple of days play i would say its quite good, however is lacking a huge amount.

In relation to clayte's comment on breaking into houses is hard is crap. Its hard untill you learn how to make C4, then with 1h of collecting mats / crafting, you can level a players house to nothing in mere seconds.

The problem the game has is the world map is too small. WAY too small, you can run from one edge of the world map to the other in 10 mins flat and along the way encounter at least 10 players who are more than blood thursty for your nakid body.

Resources spawn in the same locations over and over, and the heavy spawn locations are camped by bigger groups or clans who are online 24/7, thus forcing most people into low spawn / no spawn areas, and being forced to travel to gather resources, rather than have 5+ spawns right outside your door.

The other hard thing as mentioned is the factorys and zombie spawns can easily be zoned off by a big group's and if they are wearing full rad gear, can just stay inside perma, safe from rad, and destroy anyone coming close.

The game has some amazing potentional, sadly so did salem, and you saw what happened, however having almost $500,000 from people buying alpha keys, hopefully it will turn into something nice. Hope for something amazing, as long as they work out some of the major kinks.

PS: They have started to use VAC banning on hackers, unsure why they do not just fully ban the account, but yea. People using hacks such as insta movement, mega jumping, 1 hit kills, walk through walls and more.

Sadly i am enjoying Rust more than salem at the moment.

I took a peak after reading this thread... the latest news on hackers was a killer though.

I think I'll wait another few months to read a new thread to say this was resolved with the move to Steam... (which I doubt will change a darn thing).

IF the hacker issue gets fixed or seriously limited... then perhaps I will revisit the possibility of playing... until then... rust what?
