Town Bell, quick overview on setup?

Postby daopa » Tue Oct 15, 2013 4:34 pm

Greetings all,

I haven't played since my little base was wiped, everyone keeps saying to get a Town Bell going, I believe a Town Bell will cover my area of operations completely ...but I have some questions.

I already have a p claim down around 1500m area, should i get rid of this?

If no, should the Town Bell be place inside of this claim?

Whats the monthly cost for a standard Town Bell? Is it 1220 silver ish?

Can a very casual player be able to keep up with the costs via Cotton Planting?

For defense, I think i read you should have at least construction posts with 1 thingy built all around the town claim area to prevent people to come in ..

Is this correct?

1 - when you're living alone in a town bell, personal claims which are inside the town claim are AFAIK totally redundant (someone correct me if this is wrong, I'd like to know) except for spawning alts. Just let it run out of cash and rebuild a tiny one for that purpose. Braziers still work on vclaims from what I've heard (again, someone correct me if this is incorrect)

2 - Is the pclaim larger than the town bell area would be? You're probably better off expanding your vclaim to the required size with authority objects and letting the pclaim expire.

3 - Somewhere around there yeah, sorry don't know the exact number :'(

4 - Yes, it's not hard to keep up on the costs once you have some sort of steady flow of cash. You can even support it via hunting small game if you absolutely had to.

5 - Depends on whether you have any overgrown, chaotic players living near you *cough*darwoth*cough* Do you mean torch posts? If you're investing in a vclaim you're going to want to have braziers and stone hedges at the minimum for when someone drops a waste claim *cough*darwoth*cough* But yes without someone dropping a waste claim a makeshift fence with locks will keep you safe.

Couple more questions on Town Bells:

1>Are they destructible only after there no more upkeep silver in it right?

2>If you have a small pclaim next to the Town Bell, does this mess up braziers so they stop shooting?

3>THis Trial by Fire thing, is it very visual, like will you notice it if someone puts it down? or is it something tiny? Would this have a color code on Ender Client, or would you need to add in taht radar object??

--- another question just thought of..

4> When you shoot, does it account for LINE OF FIRE? I assume trees and buildings block shots, do walls also block shots?

5> Since I live on Very steep hills, this guy was able to shoot from the way bottom, all the way to the top and hit going thru the hill (dirt), Does Elevation not effect gun shots?

6> Does Elevation Effect Brazier shots?
6a>If I have my Braizers on a Top of a Hill, and my base below, does the elevation cause problems?

If you want to stay there you can't build any defenses that would allow you to resist him. So if you start building lots of defenses, like 100 braziers or a town bell, then he is going to wipe you out before it becomes a bother to do so.
