I played in closed beta and my friends and I have experience in H&H, looking for a group to start with.

You should post which server you want to play on.

How do I pick?

Read through the forums and find one that you want to play on?

Check out the politics of each server, particularly the controlling group.
Plymouth is controlled by the Tribe, you have to pay taxes or die.

Jamestown lacks anyone in control of the entire server, Darwoth is the most powerful player but most areas either have no one in control or are under the control of a town or a small regional alliance.
If you don't want to deal with a lot of laws and politics then I would suggest Jamestown, some areas are fairly lawless but you will usually be fine if you just act smart and build good defenses.
