I would say that both quarries are about as far from each other as the boston bank and player run stalls.
Forest terrain, no nearby settlements and not in the darkness

Quarries suck for building bases around, cuz once you use up the resources you just got a big ugly hole to look at :/

I'm not sure OP realizes the sheer immensity of the game world. there's clay, lime, clay and lime side by side and every other variation you can think of.....everywhere.

Clay isn't really that valuable, since it can be made anywhere.
