I am somewhat curious...

Now i'm quite new to this game right now, and am still attempting to understand the mechanics and getting mildly annoyed when a rabbit killed me (depressing I know.) but I was wondering for later in the game, it seems somewhat conductive to roleplaying (for those who don't know, the creation of a persona other than your own for your character and acting it out with other characters) and I was curious as to whether that is an aspect of this game at all on any of the servers, or do people tend to just play?

Most people just play. Some rp from time to time. I know there were some rp groups before trying to play/playing salem. Not sure if they still play through.

Yes, I would say quite a few people roleplay in an organic way. Self-conscious rp is rarer though, but it still happens.

and awesome, thank you, I was thinking that once i get a handle on the mechanics i may start looking for groups who want to RP, organically or self consciously, thank you all for the replies

It could be fun imho.

For now people do roleplay, I hope that multi servers will allow people to make different roles on each server and community will understand that.

I wouldn't understand that and if you killed me on one server i would probably want to slaughter your relatives on every server.

also the role you choose to play can say something about your personality, especially since other people are not roleplaying. i'm not trying to insult anyone, but i cannot understand how people think that is not true.

i never said it couldn't, in fact the best characters you can create often include parts of yourself in them, it's difficult NOT to do that, I more meant that you are playing a different person with his or her own wants needs and desires that could be considered seperate from your own, if that makes sense

Personally I've never roleplayed hardcore in salem or haven (in the sense of talking funny everywhere, etc), but at the moment I'm roleplaying quite a bit in that I have certain restrictions like: no alts*, no farming, no baking, etc.


*apart from stuff like master key alt, which is essential really
