Anywho, Cool idea for a peaceful type game, but this isnt that. The second you make a group president, the other groups are going to plot assassinations of said person. How do I know? Take a look at the current situations..

The Tribe philosophy: Harass and bully players (mostly newbies) so that they dont have to do any work and basically charging players to play the game. This group was founded by one child who likes to kill new players for the "injustice to the land".

CANDY GIRLS philosophy: "we are hear to protect the server" <--- This honorable group will "protect" you, unless they figure out you have high lvl blah blah... then you automatically get no protection and get raided for your hard work.

Now neither one of these groups care about the long term political situations, they simply are little mommy less children knocking over other people's sandcastles, and using whatever they think is clever as an excuse to do so.

For this to work, you would have to actually have higher powers that are looking to progress the game for the good of the community, instead we have 12 year olds running around making scalp and "justice" threads from these groups. Unfortunately this game caters to the more hardcore (douche) type of gamer and the person that joins this community and then tries to better it gets met with mass amounts of nerdrage GTFO comments. You cant have ***** trying to run a server.. with all the retarded stuff they say now to justify their actions, i can only guess as to what they would come up with, given a legitimate seat of power. One thing comes to mind.. Taxes, most likely given the current situation, this group would charge a ridiculously high tax for anyone to play the game on any server. Right now the only tax that is being charged is by one group on one server, with one of these fine people in control of all three, you think it will be different?

That is why casual players should move their asses and build larger towns to protect each other.

How can they if half of the members of said town is hell bent on destroying it?

Well they shouldn't invite anyone... only reasonable people from forums.

You should take a look into my answer to Lusewing. The point of this proposal isn't for the superpowers to be idle, it is for the goods of the community and especially newbies. The way I see this, we currently have 3 superpowers and they will constantly be at each other's throat but to gain support for their war machine, they will need to trade/extort/raid and since people can travel between servers, the kindest faction gets more support. As for taxes, I believe it would be different because it also applies on other big factions as well as smaller settlements. And since you said other factions will plan for coup d'etat against the leading power, high tax would just quicken the pace.

Unfortunately, I can not agree with you. My opinion is the opposite of yours.
There is no coercive techniques that are more effective than implemented within the game mechanics.

Also, are you sure that you understand the gameworld created by the developers of the game in the same way as they do, and you want the same things that they do?
Sandbox is not the same as a game for casual gamers.

Granted that, the devs cannot, in any consideration, add endless new defense systems forever. They will increase the chance of your survival to certain point but it never guarantees you to walk out of a siege unscathed. The game, as you kindly showed me, is a sandbox. The way devs look at it is of no importance to how we do. People can try whatever they like in a sandbox game. Some want to raid, some just want to build and trade. I am well aware that Salem, as same as its predecessor, is a game where combat, raids, griefing are the main parts but it doesn't mean people who play the game are pvpers, raiders and griefers. That's why a mutual understanding between players would provide a more harmonious play style for this sort of game.

*****.

They will and always protect you as long as you behave and do not do crimes. It is a honourable group that keeps it's promise.

If it happened that they raided you, andor killed you aswell then it's because you have done something very bad, so bad that not even Santa will come to Christmas, but to only bring coal to you.

If you just don't like them for a appropiate reason then I mightaswell say,

Shame on you.

Darwoth doesn't like guild jumpers and turncoats.

or being moderated by moderators that are young enough to be his little sister.

1 thing:

say a governement of 3 countries will be better than 3 different governements, each in its country and defending his disposal... can't the powerful of the server make their citizens part of a greater faction? and then see what happens

Exactly, people won't team up each other if there will be no threat. If there would be one or two countries per server with their capitols it could be very interesting.

I have idea for town structure with very large numbers of medium+ experienced players with low risk of spying (of course except giving away town location),
getting robbed or killed inside town and all that using current game mechanic. Anyone interested? ;)

Ahhh, intrigues, backstabbing, treason... I could almost taste it, isn't that exciting? It's the very best part of the game! I personally would try to avoid any conflict in my little hermitage, but seriously - what would, say, EVE, be without dirty politics? Forum whines, propaganda, agenda, righteous and self-righteous... Wish that would happen sooner! :P

I think one of four things will happen:

1. Strongest factions on the three servers will come to their own agreement with each other before server travel opens up and it will be published on the forums in some way. Because Salem is not a Republic.

2. Strongest factions will not come to an agreement with each other and there will be a war of some kind. The nature of that ware depends on how server travel will work, exactly.

3. There will never be server to server transfer as this game will die first.

4. The game won't quite die, but will suffer a slow, lingering wasting away so that when server travel opens up, there will be no more Tribe, or Candy Gang, or Darwoth, or really anyone else left to care.
