hello, I'm a new player ( a week or so ) and browsing the forum i see some factions fighting each other, I 've also seen a post from the Tribe saying if you lay claim and are not affiliated gonna get bashed , seen the Rebellion and some other factions as well...

my question is , What is going on ? are there no forum guides showing all the factions and who stands for what ?
I haven't even completely understand the mechanics yet ( spending a lot of time on wiki and guides ) and i see about scammers and retaliations.
how am i going to know who is a trusted merchant, or what faction suits me best so i can apply ?

ps: I would appreciate if someone also points out a way to find one alt with another alt ( no settling done ).

so, hello everyone ( this is my firs post ), I hope to make friends here, it seems pretty interesting game so far

you can find an alt with an other alt by partying them (either meet up in boston to kin, or kin through homestead secrets, and then party from the kin list).
You can then walk towards them by clicking on their portrait in the top left corner (in my client you can pull up the locator tool with ctrl+Q which will show how far away they are in terms of tiles </shameless self-promotion>).
On the topic of factions, I have nothing :p

There is none. Unless you walk from Boston, which I wouldn't advise.
Get settling, it's relatively easy to do.
You could party them, but chances are it would take hours of walking to meet up. It will almost certainly be easier to get settling, make a new alt and teleport it.


There are no guides to the factions. As they aren't anything official, it's just what the players in them decide to be. Look trough the forums and judge them by how they talk.

As for merchants, the ones with long topics of endorsements are generally the good ones. Still, it doesn't hurt to be cautious and paranoid. It'll help you survive longer.

For trusted traders, look at the Tradewinds section of the forum. There are a few there you can PM right away if you need things like Iron to get started with.

When it comes to factions, there is nothing official, it's all about what the players want to do. That can change quickly so there are no forum guides. Mainly right now, you have the Tribe who are structured and have a few major towns. They seem to be the strongest overall right now. There are the Rebels who are people who protest against the tribe, but don't seem to be grouped into a single town. And there is everyone else, just people who don't care or don't know what's going on and aren't on either side.

When it comes to dealing with them, the Tribe will let you sign the Treaty. You have to abide by a few rules and in return you get to be protected from raids. The rebels will probably give you free stuff if you tell them how much you hate the tribe but are not overall very organized. Neutral players are a mixed bag.

The two major factions of Tribe and Rebels are also good to trade with in general, but be careful, there are scammers and liars in both groups afaik, and people pretending to be in one or other of the groups when they are not.

As someone who has spent a large amount of time with both factions my honest answer is this:

The tribe stands for everything vile, corrupt, and evil in the world of salem.

The rebellion stands for justice, honor and virtue

100% unbiased.

Realak is the last person I'd listen to for advice. Everyone and everything he touches gets killed or set on fire. Or both.
The Tribe being vile and evil is correct though, they removed my swastika.

Tribe is the strongest, most knowledge faction, on the server.

Are they the most honorable...?

Almost everyone has a horror story with Tribe as the demon... They are as human as anyone... one will ***** you and another will be your best friend.

it's hard to know who to trust... Personally Tribe prefer infiltrators and deception vs outright conflict... but they don't shy away from such.

The Rebellion is straightforward period.

Know one faction by the bias they post about another.

Two cents.
