The fact that you are on a cliff? Try to shimmy yourself to the left or right.

If you are trying to level it, bring in dirt and build up around it and that will take out the cliff so you can then level it. Also digging clothes slotted are awesome. I dig at 73%.

i am trying to kill the cliffs more than level it but i cant fill it in either since i can't enter the lower section with dirt it is so thin it makes me shimmy too

Dig down on the side away from the high cliff. Eliminate the lower area first. Once that is done build all the way back up to get the high one. Yes, it will take a while.

Yea you just need to raise the dirt around it, play about with it and you'll get a feel for a how the landscaping mechanics work.
I think I have a hat problem.

I see you do not have a claim stone or town bell so your built items are decaying. I would recommend getting prospecting and a dowsing rod. prospect for a flat area with a mine. then get a claim stone or town bell and claim the mine and start your homestead.
