Just dont settle near Providence or the coast and chances are they wont find you. Also you might wont to put any major terraforming until you have some basic defense set up.

Ok, but what if they find me? (i'm kinda near the coast, considering how huge the map is). Do I have to pay something to them as tribute ? what really is the treaty

Paying the treaty is like playing Salem [Easy mode], and not paying the treaty will result into playing Salem [Hard mode].

You have to stay between the coast and the "big wall" they will explain it better. You need to kin them so they know exactly when do you play (they will abuse it sooner or later) so try to log in randomly. You are forbidden to hunt bears and more rules will follow. You need to keep your base look as if it was a noob-ish base dont over develop so you dont look like a nice place to raid. They will say they never killed/raided etc a treaty member but they will find an excuse to declare you criminal first. I dont like the tribe cause they have a history of deception, bug abuse, and being arrogant assholes and find them untrustworthy. If you take the time to see who is against them youll noticed that they are supported by new and newer players and all of the older ones dislike them (we just know them better). So I dont think its wise to sign the treaty but that decision is entirely yours.

There is no fee atm as far as I know. I might be mistaking about the fee.

Sounds like some power abusers. Thanks for the info, hopefully I won't run into them. How comes that they are so powerful? if old players hate them, why doesn't someone kill them if they are such a nuissance?

I really hope you don't believe that rubbish. Cawalox is very butthurt about being killed several times simply because he didn't sign and now spreads outright lies about the Treaty.

I dont think anyone hates them, they are just childish egocentrics can you hate them for being themselves? Game has many bugs that are ruing it and lacks end game content so many players dont stick with it. Even tribe doesnt play actively.

Dont mind neored here, he is just pissed that I tell people what tribe really is. The buffoon actually thinks I got scalped by tribe. What is the scalp counter on me neored? I didnt payed attention is it 92.14 or I got scalped few more times?

No, you don't have to join the tribe, only sign the treaty. Otherwise, yes, if you're not associated with the tribe in some way, we'll kill you and take your stuff, because that's a core part of the game. At least you do have the option to avoid it.

I actually can't say about the thing that they're raiding treaty players, but I have a person who lately left the treaty on the reason they didn't want to help (even if they promissed it in treaty signment). Unfortunatelly the person was killed as betrayer, foe of them. The same as every who meet any of them out of the Boston border.
Here is the topic about how to avoid the meeting, and I really don't understand those who settle with tribe (but the choice is a choice). Here's a sample how they can kill you if you're not with them.
