Being that I am still quite new to this game, I know it would probably be both strategically and tactically sound to join the Tribe. When new to a game, I know you should take the easiest path first, then come back later and choose a more difficult setting. That being said, based on what I have read so far here in the forums, I am not interested in joining the Tribe.
I know there are others out there that are both skilled in this game and have managed to avoid the Tribe so far. It occurs to me, there are some that are not exceptionally fond of the Tribe and might be willing to impart with some of their hard-earned wisdom to other like-minded individuals.
Please PM me, or post any tactics you think would be helpful to get the most out of the game, while avoiding the Tribe and their ilk.
So far, I have been building humors, proficiencies, base skills and exploring far west (around six or seven hours west of Boston). I haven’t expanded my base much at all, in fact, there is hardly anything there. I have a network of cached baskets full of singing logs, webs, tumble weeds another other valuables stored hours away from any settlements or leantos. I keep expecting to see at least some of my caches emptied as they are out there for anyone to grab, but so far, it hasn’t happened, which speaks to how unoccupied the area I am in really is right now. I know as soon as I build a new leanto though, it will invite people to look around. I would like to enjoy more aspects of the game, but I also want to figure out a good risk/rewards balance first.
