hi, can anyone tell me how the purity of drowsing rod works? can i use a 50 merc element rod to find a 55 lead iron mine?
Moreover, how to calculate the purity of metal bar, i noticed the purity of ore dropped after it is smelter to bars, what affect the final result?
for example, when i put 50 merc ore into smelter, i use 0 lime, but i may get 40 or even lower merc bars, why?

my understanding is this:
a 25/25/25/25 rod will be able to find:
35/15/25/25 mine
or a 35/20/20/25 mine
the maximum range is one of the elements max 10 difference.
meaning a 100/0/0/0 rod can find
90/3/3/4, 90/10/0/0, 90/5/0/5 etc.
a 40/40/8/12 rod can find:
45/45/8/2 mine

this is how i understand them. i could be wrong but i doubt it

Last time I really curious using sulphur rods with 25 of red and finding lead mine with 9 of salt. sooo, who damn knows for real

or a rod after the dowsing patch?

Its based off the alchemical value more than the percent, but a rod should find nodes within appx 10% purity either way. So a 49% salt rod should show nodes between appx. 39-59%. But again.. Alchemical value not %...

if that same rod has 5% merc to it, it will also (should also) find merc mines between 0-15% (appx based on alch value)

woo woo wands "seem" to be based on a "percent chance to find" any nearby node

Same element, if you want to find 50%'ish lead, you'll need at least a 40% + set of lead rods. and smelters retain purity from the previous load.. Try having a "purity smelter" after 2 loads you get a bar, with no leftover in the smelter

I thought it was pretty clear. Smelters retain purity from previous loads so if you want pure metals, you have to use only ore AND you have to run several cycles of pure ore to flush out the old levels. Or just keep a dedicated purity smelter.
