Setting up base defences

Hey everone, I would like to ask you for help with setting up base defences especially redgaring changed brazzier mechanics. My friends were thinking about building our walls like in the attached picture Image with walls being plank fence, stone hedge, split-rail fence, makeshift fence placed close together with no tile space. As we understand raiders will be always shot only by a single brazier. Since we have no salem experience, we have no idea if this kind of defense would stop anyone, or maybe its just a walk in a park for a good raider. We are pretty confused if placing brazziers within a range of other brazier would do us any good (maybe in different walls setup?). We will happily take any critique on this design and listen to any tip you can give us. Any help is really appreciated!

if i understand the current concepts correctly, this is a good as you can make it currently.

It looks fine. But keep in mind that clever raider will never allow himself to get shot by more than one brazier (not than anyone is strong enough to raid against a brazier) so I would place doors in the overlapping areas.

As i understand the mechanics:

Braziers in eachothers range will lower the damage. As it stands now, each brazier will do a quarter of the maximum damage, while at best (small areas) two braziers will be damaging a single raider. So maximum damage to the raider = N/2

If you place the braziers at the corners instead (so that a brazier doesn't reach any other brazier), each of them will deal the maximum damage so that a raider is dealt at least N damage while attacking the walls, up to 2N in some areas.

Your post confuses me. In the image attached it is pretty clear, that all of the braziers are outside each others range. Their areas overlap, but that's ok, both of the braiziers should be doing full damage in said areas, to a maximum of 4x in the middle.

I would probably change the design, so that you have a cluster in the middle and four separate clusters at the corners, but that's just my personal preference, the op's concept is just fine,

i understood it as:
if the braziers are not inside the range of another brazier (and automatically vice versa), but only their area of influence overlaps, they do full damage.
as such his design shows that everywhere except the corners have more then 1n in damage and the center even 4n damage.

Psssst, braziers are not in each-others range on the drawing.

indeed, I saw it wrong on the drawing. Then yes, your design seems good under de current mechanics.

I've got the same kind of question , not easy to understand how things works for me ... I've never raid , never been raided

- I think that raider will always attack against one single brazier , I don't think it's possible to avoid that without overlapping. In your case raider(s) will come from the corner, break two wall-set, disable one brazier , run away / restore there biles and attack another brazier from another corner ?
- Your base have a lot of empty place (between braziers , between wall) , your defense will varie a lot according to what you put there . Is there place for a third wall-set between city wall and brazier wall ; and / or some wall between each brazier wall ? Or some stone boulder/ house like i read somewhere ?
- I don't like split-rail fence, makeshift fence at all . In fact these can be smashed really easily, no? In my point of view these takes place and can hardly slow down attacker , but I can be wrong.

I'm still living in my first-days very crappy base. If i should move (maybe one day) , I was thinking to build my base like this :

But I have no idea if it's good or not , and what to put in all those empty area :D

the single brazier problem stays in this case.
a smart raider can always find a single brazier entrance, since the no overlapping ensures that.
but this setup is pretty decent as long as your outer walls are at least 3 rows outside to inside split rail, stone, plank (split rail is better than none, so is makeshift)
the empty places you should/could fill up with cotton plants. since they bring in money to pay yer claim, seeds to grind for oiling boards, seeds to feed to your turkeys.
the turkeys then in turn you can butcher and compost if you have to many and the compost can be used for the purity grind, which the empty spaces can be used for as well, rows and rows of flower pots and compost bins.
