No, it's exactly like it looks on wiki.
It is white color on the minimap.

they didn't change the appearance. So you might be just unlucky/missing something

It's correct on my wiki.

Now, if you want to see what a clay pit looks like, there are several on the southern border of Boston near the cost that you can see. Careful though, I'm not responsible if you wander out of Boston like a noob and get murdered.

if you cross the river south of boston, then you will find 4 clay pits, if you then walk 5-10 minutes mroe south along the beach, you will find multiple lime pits

Lime pits tend to exist in groups, you can walk for hours through providence without seeing any lime pit and then suddenly see 10 close to eachother.

Considering the large amounts of lime required, it is preferable to have your settlement near a limepit.

It is not possible to teleport while carrying a boulder so you chop each boulder into 5 limes in your inventory, walk back to boston and then teleport. Or if you have a limepit close to your settlement then it is easiest to go with a sled and boxes, since 1 box can hold more lime as 1 boulder.

Yeah, but don't go wandering around tribal lands on your main. Or do, but expect to be killed.
