Is it just me ?

Are other people finding the new server extremely laggy or is it just me ?

Last server I never had lag, ever. Now, it gets me dizzy I rubber band so much.

Only difference on my end is upgrading from xp 32 bit to win 7 64 bit but I would think that would make it better not worse.

I find it lags when you switch characters. If you log out and then switch all good. Providence lags a bit too.

I have found that the game does not handle large amounts of people in small areas very well so when boston is crowded and i have more than one char there it will usually get laggy. Also running three or more clients i find cause alot of lag for me.

For the record my rig has 16GB memory and an i7 processor. Altough my geaphics card is **** which might be whats causing the lag.

If you search back to Loftar's post on the new server... you'll find that the old server had a really high I/O capacity or something like... and the new one doesn't. Possibly a factor?

Also, this one world is how many factors bigger than the previous ones individually?

Finally- we have 4-5x as many folks playing now...or more... than we did on all three old servers combined.

All these things add up to potential lag and performance issues.

Think you hit the nail on the head here.

Unless something has changed with the way Windows processes things, anything in the background or clipped doesn't get rendered, and even with a crappy card from the last 5 years, you shouldn't even be approaching graphics as causing major lag. (Maybe slow frame rates, but wouldn't cause rubberbanding or input delay issues.) I was running Salem on a AMD Athlon 64 with 1GB RAM and an nVidia 5200-256MB from circa 2004 at a reasonable frame rate, so doubt anything on your computer would be causing this other than networking.

i have the same setup (more or less) as anfros. I have little to no problem in the wilderness. In town i have unplayable conditions due to slow frame rendering. Nothing has changed on the internet front between last world and this one. The super enriched images seems to be the problem for me.
