is the in game time for salem the same as rl time or is there like a 1:2 ratio or something because waiting 5 days for a timber pile irl seems like a long time

There is no concept of days in game. So if someone is talking about days then it's real time.

Technically, there are 3 game days per real day when the clock is running, but as there is no day/night cycle and everything should be given in real time left instead of game time, it's not really important to know. Occasionally, you'll see something in game time without realizing it, and it'll make you wonder why numbers are acting weird. This would be why. (Mushroom poisoning was showing in game days/hours right after server start.)
