What's the deal with firing these lil bastards? I've fired 6 now and they've all buggered themselves to death, shards comin outta me arse with these yokes. Am I doing something backwards or wha?

the tooltip says it's influenced by one of those proficiencies I forgot... i got 2 out of 4, pretty good since my char is new

I think I was just incredibly unlucky, it's sorted now

I have a clay pot i just realised have tanning fluid in it. (Next sentence is gonna sound wrong, and yet also true) - i have not yet gotten any brain .

I should say, said pot is not on a claim, and it could be someone trolling me..

No, boiling bark (or mushrooms if I've seen it wrong) gradually turns water into tanning fluid. Boil more bark - get right concentration. No need in animal brains to get your first leather.

Same thing happened to me, I threw it out thinking it was a bug, i was boiling bark and witches caps if its any use

It's the bark. Boiling four pieces gives 3L of tanning fluid @ 6% concentration. Boiling three gives a higher amount of liquid @~4.3%. You could screw around with the volume of water in the pot prior to boiling the bark and I'm sure it would come out at closer to 5%.

It looks like 8 bark gives you 1L of fluid at 10%, so you can add another liter of water to get it to exactly 5%
