Fireplaces and Clay Pots

Postby agentlemanloser » Fri Feb 21, 2014 2:08 pm

Can clay pots explode? I realize this question is odd, but I left a clay pot with bark in it boiling overnight and when I woke up both the pot/tripod and fireplace had disappeared. I can't imagine the pot was stolen - well, it easily could have been - but what happened to the fireplace's circle of stones?

Well, we've been playing for less than a day, so I hope it wasn't decay. I'd also be surprised if many people have claims yet.

Their tooltips says "At some peril of cracking". It does not say if this is during firing, or usage.

mine cracked during fabrication of the clay pot... but it leaves traces, a piece of clay you can use as a normal clay unit...

I don't think the responses thus far have understood the situation. The pot had already been fired, I had filled it with water and bark, and had hung it over the fireplace. Not a pile of sticks, mind, but the permanent fireplace. In the morning, both fireplace and pot (and contents, obviously) were gone. I'd normally assume theft, but that doesn't explain the fireplace vanishing. Loftar, is this an intended mechanic or did I miss something? And no, this was not on a claim, so it is possible that someone destroyed the fireplace after stealing the pot, but that seems like such a waste of time that I doubt it happened. At any rate, the rest of my stuff was still there.

1. Decay

2. Someone broke it.

Claims prevent both of these (not so much the latter later on after people have skilled up and want to do harrm).

It happened to me now, only in my case the fireplace was still there, only the tripod and the pot were missing. I left it boiling after I boiled four mushrooms. I think perhaps it breaks when all water is boiled out?
