How to kill rabbits/crickets?

How do I stop rabbits and crickets from running away from me whenever I get within 20 feet of them, I need to get close enough to punch pls

I'd think the fastest way is to make a slingshot.

I'm not sure if stomp has new mechanics in [Providence], but it will make anything within its range aggro you when you click it.
