Water purity

Postby Hampa » Thu Jan 09, 2014 10:12 pm

Been enjoying the game for the last couple of weeks trying to learn the ropes. Guess im hooked for real now, so I thought it would be time to settle down and start the purity grind.

I was hoping some of you veterans could give me some hints. I have understod that the best way to start is by finding a high purity water source. Is there any source in particulare that have a better chance to contain higher % purity? Rivers, lakes, wells etc. What is the highest natural occuring purity % in water? In other words, should i settle if i find ~5% or spend the rest of my life looking for 30%+ ?

Welcome to the forums :)

To my knowledge, rivers/lakes/oceans have no bearing on purity, but rather that there are purity nodes spread across the map that can be found regardless. At the moment, 10% is the accepted hard cap for forageables and water (someone is welcome to correct me if I'm mistaken).

Although 10% nodes are rare, they are out there, and if I were you I'd hunt one down. It may not, though, be a smart idea to put a base on a node. One of the thoughts behind nodes is that areas of high purity should be fought over by opposing groups seeking the best possible natural resources for production/gluttony/etc. If your node drew attention from people who wanted to take it from you, it would be better to lose an alt claimstone/lean-to than to risk losing your entire base. But that is just my opinion.

11% items ARE possible, but pretty rare (i.e. on roa we do have 11% sulphur granite)
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Without knowing the algorithm generating the fields, we can only assume anything is possible. Evidence found at this point only shows a general cap of 10-11% so far.

Thanks for the helpful info! I remember reading somewhere that all wells are 0% purity right now, is that correct?

yes. From my personal experience, focus on high salt/merc water first, lead/sulphur later.

Any evidence on Roanoke of 11% water?

Not that I'm aware of (but I'm generally not very aware of these things)

Yes, for now all wells are 0%. The only way to get purer water is to look for it in natural bodies of water.
