Lime - whats the best way to get?

Hiya all,

I'm a few weeks into Salem now and starting to get a "holding" up and running. It seems that Lime is pretty scarce, besides randomly spawning every now and again. There's a very small Lime pit close by, but I presume that will be used up fairly quickly.

What is the best way to get Lime? I've come across holdings with loads of stone walls and items that require a lot of lime, with no Lime Pits close by... how do they get all their Lime? are you able to mine Lime, like Iron? Or is it only found in Lime Pits and at random spawns?

Only lime pits and random spawn. What you can do is to buy it from other players or to make an alt for digging lime on somewhere where there is a lot of it.

Get a sled and 4 chests. Drag the chests to the pit and mine and chip and fill up oyur chests and drag back. Rinse repeat many times till your walls are done. Pretty much the easiest way.

Hiya all,
There's a very small Lime pit close by, but I presume that will be used up fairly quickly.

It's possible to manage even the smallest lime resources.

First you dig up a load of soil and walk to the edge of the lime pit.

Then you walk along the edge of the pit, holding ctrl while you drop the soil.

Then you dig once in each spot inside the lime pit, right along the edge.

The time it takes me to go through one cycle of 4 lime boulders is about the same amount of time the stamp mill needs to finish the first boulder. This is with a metal shovel and a digging outfit so that I get soil every 3 clicks (34%, 68%, done).

So the right setup would be to put 4 stamp mills on one side of your lime and a big gaping hole on the other side.

This option works if there's no hills, up crops between you and the pit; but seriously... if you play long enough you are going to get into Purity...and farming... and you're going to use 80-100 lime per field.

You are going to want Stamp Mills lots of them.

Plan on not only an alt...but at least one more p-claim. So the stamp-mills don't fall about and disappear in two weeks.

There are lots of ""good"" spots... but many will be in darkness.

Don't think for a second the claim/town you have now is your final destination. Once you build your humors past 80-100... move into Darkness...

You should consider finding a pit large enough to accommodate your needs in lieu of using bug abuse to make a never-ending lime pit.
