So we all know how simple stoves are not easy to place but, following all hints, is getting me nowhere.
I'm getting no reaction from the game when I try to place, no denial message and no sign. I use CTRL to rotate and shift mouse wheel, but nothing.

Are they just not able to build right now? I'm building in a hovel.

It is a pain but you can do it. I placed mine 2 weeks ago, took me time and patience.

You should definitly get a message about whats wrong. Try looking at the system chat. You need to place it right were its supposed to be, on the gray tiles. Also check if your black bile is high enough.

If you are not gettin any message then you were probably standing too close, or some other object stopped your character. Walk away few steps and make sure there is nothing between you and the stove area. And keep trying

you'll also need to press shift while actually placing the stove (not just rotating). The correct stove location doesn't "click" into the large grid for stuff
