My friend, who has Rights of an Englishman, and I were hunting and I was within striking distance of his sword. He struck me by accident even though his criminal action toggle was turned off. We then repeated this action both in and out of party to confirm that I was attackable regardless of criminal action toggle. Does anyone know why this is the case?

Have you guys considered not stabbing each other as a way to hunt together?

oh yes, im sure the fact that pre rights the fights are easy peasy and after right the fights are a massive pain, has everything to do with strategy. though if that was the case and this wasnt the worst case of bad game design. is it not logical to have the need for this before learning of a skill?

Actually nuter points out a problem here. It makes getting Rights of an Englishmen a disadvantage for peaceful players.
What we need is a punishment for hitting other players (if you are not aggroed in combat by them) if you don't have the rights skill. I'm thinking perhaps instead of damaging them with the strike, you should hurt yourself "tripping to get out of the way so as not to harm another pilgrim". It would serve to let peaceful types practice "real" hunting and sum up a hole in the current game lore.

As amusing as it is to watch my buddies run in terror when I randomly jump kick into their melee combat with critters, I am curious as to the devs reasoning behind this.

Honestly? It's likely to make combat more skill requiring. Bots were a problem in haven, and the new combat system (with aimed directional attacks) ups the skill level for groups to fight together properly. Having friendly fire on constantly makes large combat mayhem just that much more practice and communication oriented. Simply zerging characters at someone isn't going to be as effective since they can hit each other if unskilled in the ways of group combat.

more in this vien of thought, you need rights to make a town, our goal now as hunting partners we need to take even more care for an activity we have already been doing for 2 days
