Is it related to the game?

So it is like the public enemy of every pilgrim? Will he have minions or are we supposed to worship him to improve our witchcraft?

Cthulu is a creation of H.P. Lovecraft and is a common element in horror. While it is doubtful that Cthulu himself will be in the game in any way, shape, or form; it is meant to be an indication to the types of things you can expect from the monsters and creatures of this world. You've never noticed how demented everything looks before? =)

First time I heard of cthulhu was in the Metallica song. But there was no wiki (or internet even, in my country at least) in that time to learn what it was.

There never were actually any official artistic creations of any of Lovecraft's nightmare creatures. It's as good as any, I suppose.

Wouldn't be possible, the mere sight of Cthulu of dread R'yleh would drive you beyond the bounds of sanity. At most we can "guess" what a terrifying, MAJESTIC (Please eat me last) presence he would be, but we'll never be right.
