Scents and Tracking

Is it possible not to leave scents in a mine, since so many people store stuff in mines, since its not on claimed land? Can someone trespass to get to the mine and then just do whatever they want while they are down there even if they don't have the skill larceny or whatever the other one is?

If you put a claimstone which covers the mine the entire mines get claimed, and of course you can leave scents then.

But if the mine isn't covered by a pclaim or vclaim then you won't leave scents.

The only difference between a claimed mine and outside is that there are no braziers in mines so raiders love it when people store stuff in mines.

So say the claim stone only covers the area in front of the mine. I ask because I trespassed to get in the mine but then I was able to take stuff even though I don't have larceny. That must mean the mine wasn't covered all the way. Its my first time doing it so I really don't know. I hate to leave scents even though I should have known better. I know just trespassing doesn't leave scents.

If you don't have larceny and you took stuff then it didn't leave a scent, but you did leave a scent when you trespassed.

Thanks for all the help. Stupid question but I might as well ask. If I discard my homestead and just leave my butt in town I'm safe right? I'd make the worst raider yet.

If you just trespassed they don't have evidence then I believe so. If you committed a summonable crime then no. If they have evidence removing your homestead and sitting in town allows then to summon kill you. If you don't know how this stuff works you should not be committing crimes.

I don't have larceny but it let me take and destroy stuff. Does destroying stuff leave evidence? I guess I just wanted to be on the other side of things for once. Having my stuff burned to the ground and being to low at the time to do anything about it. I did trespass though. Do you have to be online for them to summon you?

If you don't have larceny and waste but it let you steal and destroy things then you weren't on a claim so you did not leave evidence, evidence is necessary to summon someone. You can use evidence at the criminals homestead to summon them if they are offline or in Boston, if they have no homestead you can summon kill them without having to find their base.
It sucks to be a newb and have your **** trashed but it sucks even more to have people tracking you down to kill you, just learn how to build a base with good enough defenses to keep out raiders, or find an abandoned base to squat in until you have the resources to build and claim a better one.
