Tracking--What am I missing?

For the first time my defenses were breached and someone trespassed on my claim. I turned tracking on because I thought it would reveal the clues as to how to go after the perpetrator, but I didn't see anything. I've never had this issue before. What am I missing? What should I be looking for?

Teleport to town and back, the zone refresh should update the clues for you.

It's also chance based (and maybe skill based too) if you spot a scent or not. You might want to port in and out a few times to check if you see them all

Porting in and out worked--thanks! Of course, mid-way through tracking the blackguard the client crashed and when I reloaded it all the charges were gone, so back to the drawing board.

I can show you where I live to speed up the process if you like. Your not going to like what you find when you get there and you most certainly will not be able to do anything about it.
