Hello everyone! I am interested in playing this game, but am concerned with the size of the file. I have a 20 gigabyte per month data limit, so I am cautious as to what I download. Could anyone tell me the total size of the download? It would be appreciated!

Its small.... What 3rd world country do you live in that would restrict your data usage on a PC?

It would be the wasteland of corporate America with providers such as Time Warner and Comcast. Unless someone is streaming a lot of video or torrents, 20GB data can be hard to hit in a month. Funny thing is a typical download from Netflix is something like 2-3 GB, and the idea behind this cap was to eliminate piracy via torrents. Most people I know that sub to Netflix easily burn up that 20GB a month.

Didn't realize the initial download was only about 50MB, but there is additional content that is loaded actively in the background while playing. My data usage isn't any more than when playing other MMOs, though. I haven't actively monitored it, but since there isn't a ton of log data such as from combat in a raid, it may well be less.

I have Comcast and I have downloaded hundreds of GB of data in a month and never had a problem. I know some providers in backwater areas such as Australia have 20GB limits but what provider in the USA limits your data to 20GB, unless you are trying to play through a cellular or satellite connection?

in my part of Australia, I only get 20GB too, and I have to pay $70 a month for it
I burn it up easily even without movies.

Emigrate? Screw that! Overthrow your evil and restrictive democracy and install me as your benevolent dictator and I will decree that there shall be no data caps.
Seriously, how do you Aussies put up with that, I know people that would riot if their provider ever tried to charge them $70 for 20GB.

Comcast used to use data limits, and I believe Time Warner does still on some plans. Don't quote me on that, though. It's been a while since I've seen the discussion come up in tech news.

edit: I'd say make a huge stink over it, but I can't say what other options there are in your area. Broadband Internet can sometimes be hard to get (if not impossible) and a single company will often have a monopoly on it in small communities due to the cost of setting up a business and small size of the market. However, if enough other consumers start complaining, things do change.

Here in belgium it's been only a little over a year since "limitless" subscriptions were introduced. I think it's less than two or three years ago my family was restricted to 50 GB/month for four people. Not much at all. That said, salem is typically a very small download: my folders for salem only total about 100 MB total, of which a large part I suspect to be minimap tiles. As for bandwidth usage, I'm afraid I do not have any idea anymore, because I am on limitless now :)
