To claim or not to claim, what's the difference?

What is the difference between building a wall and a gate on your claim vs on unclaimed land?
I'm aware of torch posts and braziers only working on claimed land but, other than that, is there any other difference?

Will the wall/gate on unclaimed land decay for example?

They will decay and its not a crime to bash them down and steal your stuff.

but walls on claimed land require both the waste skill and a higher amount of phlegm (due to not being able to regenerate) compared to walls on unclaimed land
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
