Is it possible to build a fence in front of a mine entrance?

Hi, to improve defences I'm wondering if I could build a fence on the tile in front of a mine entrance as well as on the tile in front of the door of a house. I imagine just putting a gate there and opening it every time I want to go inside my house or the mine. Would that work or do I need to leave 1 tile of space between the house and the wall? (so I don't get stuck or something else weird such as not being able to "teleport/enter the structure")

That works, I have done it. No need to leave space, you can build directly in front of it.

and what would happen if you left the house/mine, will someone else closed that gate ? Be trapped? Walkable like leanto's after teleporting to them?

That's a good question.

Can you trap a raider in your mine or house by building a locked gate across the door/entrance.

I haven't tested that yet, because my door has a lock. Only I can open or close it.
But since the games usually relocates characters to an unoccupied location, I assume it wouldn't work, either the raider would be able to destroy the door or appear outside of it.
But why don't you just test it?
