lets use a "wooden box" as an example here.

when you create a wooden box you can use SHIFT and Ctrl to specify exactly were you want the box to be put. So lets say i pick up a wooden box and want to drop it in a specific space. Are there commands to do this or is it just random on how its placed down.

I want to set things up in a nice order and not have them wasting space all over the place. thanks for your help guys.

Pretty sure this is Ender client feature, but after you lift an object, right-click on the object you are carrying. This puts you in a mode which lets you use SHIFT/CTRL to precicesly place that object on the ground instead of dropping it normally

Also after right clicking it, holding SHIFT and pressing the mouseWheel up or down, you can rotate your object into the desired position.
