Help me understand fishing

Hello there fellow settlers, I'm new to Salem and really enjoying this game. I wanted to know about lures specifically... How long does a lure last? Will it break? Does it disappear just like worms do when I catch a fish? Is it worth it to invest in lures? I do enjoy fishing in this game and the benefits from gobbling down fish in gluttony mode are quite decent at this point in my humor leveling stage so any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Lures will last longer when you raise your Frontier and Wilderness. Some lures are more durable than others. Personally, I like seaweed wobblers.
Did Claeyt shut up yet?

Candy Gang has an official fisherman guide named kommaba.
If you are on Roanoke you can hire him for only 300 silver/hour.
He will pick you up in a boat and tell you the secrets of fishing.
